About UsHi! We are Jennifer & Steve, a husband and wife team that loves to welcome nonhuman life back to this 3.5 acre homestead in North Central Ohio. We are Indiana natives, but transplanted to Ohio via New Mexico in 2009. A year later, we bought a sweet decrepit little farm house with land to share space and offer back to nature in gratitude for these lives that are ours.
The Common Milkweed idea planted itself in 2007 while living in Santa Fe, NM where we dreamed of working the land, growing food for us and for nature and owning our time. We gave our idea a go at our homestead in Indiana aptly named Coffeetree Bottoms, but our wanderlust took us back to New Mexico to work at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and adventure in the wild Guadalupe Mountains. We soaked up the desert and left a big part of our hearts there when we moved to Ohio, but the moisture, frogs, fireflies and a job in Columbus called us back to the Midwest. Now these five life facts guide our next big adventure: 1 - We love to be together. 2 - We love to be outdoors. 3 - We love to share space with nonhuman life. 4 - We love to hike and explore. 5 - We want to be in charge of our time and our schedules. We sunk our roots in deep to honor this one precious life we live and so here we grow with our menagerie of rescued kitties and hopes and dreams so big you could climb them like a mountain. |
